I'm so sick of forgetting myself to remember who I am.

Well I went to a concert yesterday. It was an all day thing. For those of you people in South Florida you have probably heard of 94.9 Zeta's Halloweenie Roast. Of course there wasn't really a roast or anything, or even a fire for that matter, so I don't particularly understand where the roast part comes in. Anyhow, there were a bunch of bands there, Papa Roach, Chevelle, Skindred, Collective Soul, Shine Down and a local band turned signed band, Nonpoint.  It really isn't my type of music, a little too hardcored for me, plus every single band sounded the same with the exception of one. Skindred was reall damn good, and what I found intriguing about them is they are from Wales and the lead singer is black. Plus the funny thing was the bassist who had a Jamaican flag on his arm is as pasty as I am. Weird, but not too weird considering I have a friend who was born in Jamaica and he is half Chinese. His last name is Wong and he was raised in Jamaica and he doesn't look Chinese nor does he look Jamaican. Anyhow, back to my point, they were really good, almost like a Reggae/Rap/Metal band. It was a really interesting sound. I got really burnt at the concert, we got there at like noon and they opened the gates at 1. We got rained on a bit too, but I now know why I don't go to too many concerts. The prices of things there were so high. Not that I am trying to sound like my father, but seriously. Five dollars for a hot dog? five dollars for an arepa? Three dollars for a bottle of water or Coke? That is highway robbery, my friends did smuggle in some alcohol and some herbal refreshments. I am not heavy into that stuff though,  never was. I do partake every once and again. But life is so much better when you enjoy it sober in my opinion. I did almost pass out however from being dehydrated. It was an enjoyable concert. I did also find time to see a couple of movies too. I saw Team America: World Police and The Grudge. I couldn't stop laughing watching Team America. The movie is hilarious and they make fun of so many celebrities. I am surprised they are not being sued for using the likeness and names of such celebrities as Matt Damon, George Clooney, Alec Baldwin, Samuel L. Jackson, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins. They are all killed in gruesome ways too. Pretty damn funny and don't even get me started on the marionette sex scenes. I mean these things aren't even anatomically correct and they show them going at it. Now as far as The Grudge goes, I went in expecting crap. I don't like Sarah Michelle Gellar (Ga-lar as she says it is pronounced) Oh well, I had the crap scared out of me. I felt queasy at the end of the movie. I am a big fan of Asian horror films, they know what they are doing. I mean just Look at the Ring, that was a remake of a Japanese film called Ringu. That was a great movie. By far the best one I have seen if you can track it down is a movie called The Eye. It is shown with subtitles, but it scared the bejeezus out of me. They are remaking it into a hollywood movie too. People are finally realizing that Asians have such a better way of story telling. The Grudge is based on a movie called Ju-on. A lot of people will be quick to tell you that when they remake these movies they ruin them. I usually would agree, but Hollywood is getting smart. The Grudge was directed by the same guy that did the originals. It is his first movie to be released here. Of course the movie has a few Americans in it, but most of the people are the people from the original movie and it takes place in Tokyo. Same goes for The Ring, the sequel to that is being directed by the guy that did the original Japanese version and it's sequels. I am telling, if you want to be scared...and scred good, go see The Grudge or rent The Eye. Sick sick sick.
